  On December 8, 1998, the Monterey County Board of Supervisors adopted Ordinance No. 4003, adding Chapter 2.59 to the Monterey County Code relating to the adoption of a Children & Families First Ordinance consisting of the establishment of the Monterey County Children & Families First Commission and a local children and families first trust fund

Term Rules Explanation

The Commission member from the Board of Supervisors shall be appointed or re-appointed annually by the Chair of the Board of Supervisors. The Four (4) At-Large members’ terms shall serve a three (3) years term at the pleasure of the Board of Supervisors. The date of appointments shall be staggered so that their terms will not expire on the same date. At-Large members may continue to serve, upon expiration of their term, until their successor is appointed.

Reappointment Rules Explanation

Any At-Large member may be re-appointed for a second three (3) year term at the pleasure of the Board of Supervisors.
